Sphygmomanometer Practice Reading for Blood Pressure Korotkoff Systolic and Diastolic Sounds. When taking a manual blood pressure, you'll want to know how to read the analog gauge (also known as the sphygmomanometer). In this video, the first sound heard was at around 88, which is the systolic pressure. The point when the noise stopped (silence noted) was 58, which is the diastolic pressure.
