The Story Behind SURAH AN-NAS behind story of surah an nas ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This documentary tells the behind story of how the last two chapters of the Qur’an—Al-Falaq and An-Nas (the Muʿawwidhatayn)—were revealed as protection for the Prophet ﷺ and for every believer after him. We revisit the reports you’ve heard in fragments and show them clearly: In Madinah, a hidden harm spread—whispers, unease, disturbed rest. Not a fever, not a wound—something subtler. According to authentic narrations, a man from the people of the Book (often named Labīd ibn al-Aʿṣam) worked siḥr (sorcery) against the Prophet ﷺ. Jibrīl (Gabriel) came with guidance: the harm would be undone by seeking Allah’s refuge. The Muʿawwidhatayn were revealed—Al-Falaq and An-Nas. A comb and threads tied in knots were discovered; with each verse recited, a knot was released, the burden lifted, and the Messenger ﷺ was protected by Allah. From that day, the Ummah learned the path: seek refuge—morning, evening, before sleep, whenever the heart is crowded with thoughts. This isn’t a legend. It’s a mercy Allah wrote into the Qur’an: Why An-Nas names Allah as Rabb (Lord), Malik (King), Ilāh (God)—so your heart remembers Who you’re turning to before you ask. Why the enemy is named “al-waswās al-khannās”—the whisperer who retreats—because not every battle is outside; many begin in the thoughts. Why the threat is “min al-jinnati wan-nās”—from the unseen and from people, environments, and voices that keep you spiritually unsettled. And why the Prophetic sunnah taught ruqyah with the Muʿawwidhatayn: recite, blow lightly into the hands, wipe over the body—simple, consistent protection. How to live this story today (plain and practical): After Fajr and Maghrib: recite Al-Ikhlāṣ, Al-Falaq, An-Nas three times each. Before sleep: cup your hands, recite the three surahs, blow lightly, then wipe over your body—as the Prophet ﷺ did. When intrusive thoughts hit: say Aʿūdhu billāhi min ash-shayṭāni r-rajīm, recite An-Nas slowly, and return to something halal and helpful. Clean your inputs: less doom-scrolling and gossip, more Qur’an, dhikr, and purposeful work. Protection isn’t a moment; it’s a daily rhythm.
