SOLDIER TURNS 10 YEARS OLD TODAY! - On May 13th, 2015, I did one of my first TV/film sessions ever with an artist named Fleurie. It was the day we met—and, as it turns out, it was her first ever writing for a movie trailer. She brought in an idea for a song called Soldier, and as soon as she sang the first line, my brain exploded with production ideas. I instantly knew what the entire song was going to sound like. We recorded the whole thing quickly and wrapped it in just a couple of hours. A few months later, it landed our first big movie trailer ever: Concussion with Will Smith. Over the past 10 years, it’s been placed in more than 30 TV shows and movies. I tell you this because… it almost didn’t happen. Fleurie told me that that morning, while going through the Starbucks drive-through, she had so much fear and doubt about sharing that idea—afraid I’d think it was stupid. But I ended up loving it. And to this day, it’s still our most placed songs and one of our most streamed tracks. This very song is what truly birthed my entire cinematic journey into the career I have today. Whether it's the 100's of songs I've done for tv/film, The Birth of a King, or working with artists… my "cinematic" brand was LAUNCHED by this session with Fleurie. I've always LOVED listening to cinematic music my whole life, but never thought I'd have the opportunity to make it myself - until "Soldier". In addition, my creative partnership with Fleurie has since resulted in us doing nearly 50 songs together, over 100 tv/film placements, AND the biggest moment of my career - the Linkin Park cover of IN THE END, which has gained over 75 BILLION views on TikTok alone, and tens of BILLIONS of streams elsewhere. Point is… you never know where these things will take you. Never let your fear of what other people might think stop you from sharing your ideas—cause one of them just might become the biggest thing you’ve ever done.
