mgk really nailed it. mgk on playing Tommy Lee: "If I've ever been closest to method acting, that would be it." 📝: mgk sat down with Carter Gregory for an interview titled “mgk and I Have The Most Honest Conversation,” which was released on July 30, 2026. During a candid conversation, mgk reflected on playing Tommy Lee in Netflix's Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt, saying the role was the closest he has ever come to method acting. He revealed that he stayed in character even after filming by keeping on Tommy Lee's wig and often going straight from a bar back to set for early morning call times. When Carter Gregory mentioned the role, mgk summed up the experience in just three words: "That was goated." When Gregory asked, "What did he [Tommy Lee] say about how you portrayed him?" mgk replied, "Thought I nailed it. I think everybody else on set was like, 'Hey man, you're living a wild life. Don't ⚰️ before we finish this movie.'" He went on to describe the experience as the closest he has ever come to method acting, saying, "That was a - fueled experience. That was like... if I've ever been closest to method acting, that would be it. But dude, you take a dude in his mid-20s, give him a lead role, put him in New Orleans for four months—we're raging." Recalling how immersed he became in the role, mgk added, "There were days when I had the wig on, and they would have to do like three, four hours of covering all my tattoos, and I would just be like, 'Guys, I'm leaving set. I'm going to sleep in this.' Like, if call time is 4:00 AM, I'm just staying in character." He continued, "And I would leave, and I would go to a bar. I moved into an apartment right across from my favorite bar, so I would just go to the bar. They didn't close till the roosters crowed, which was around right the time I needed to go back to work, so I would just go back to work." 🎥 Full video: "mgk and I Have The Most Honest Conversation" #mgk #machinegunkelly #colsonbaker #tommylee #thedirt @motleycrue @tommylee @mgk when mgk method acted as Tommy Lee
